This is my second pencil drawing.  I hadn't intended to do a pencil drawing and had initially set out to do a work that included brush and ink as well as a water color-like paint.  It turned out disastrously and I didn't have the inclination to give it a second shot because of impending deadlines and other work that was due.

In desperation, I looked for something I knew I could do, even if not terribly well.  As in my first pencil work, I fail to capture the subtleties of expression, head tilt, etc. in the portrait.  It's something to work on.

This is by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, who lived from 1780 to 1867, and it is titled Louis Bertin.  It measures 12 3/4" high x 9 1/2" wide.
